"Revive Our Hearts"
Pastor Stephen Harrison
Read: Psalm 85:6-8
Every time I pass by the AED at church I'm thankful we have it, and thankful we've never had to use it. While it's not a toy, the AED is a much needed tool used to analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, it deliver an electric shock to reestablish a regular heartbeat. I've often seen them used in movies where the intensity is turned up a little each time in hopes the heart will start beating again. Let me ask you a question? What's it going to take to restart your spiritual heartbeat? How intense does the Spirit need to be to reestablish your spiritual rhythm? Psalm 85:6-8 says, "Will you not revive us again that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what God the Lord says." I've often wanted to take that AED off the wall and shock a few people in hopes their spiritual lives will start once again. I heard old preacher say, "In order for our hearts to be revived, they must first be vived." Has the Holy Spirit caused your spiritual heart to beat (are you born again)? In the movies, they always say "clear" before using the AED. What does the Holy Spirit need to clear out of your life before He can restart your spiritual heart?
Today's Challenge: What does the Holy Spirit need to clear out of your life before He can restart your spiritual heart? How intense does it have to get before you allow the Holy Spirit to restart your spiritual heartbeat?
