"A Guiding Star"

Read: Philippians 2:12-18
I love to sit and look at the stars. They are a great reminder of how great the Lord is to create something so beautiful and mysterious. Remember the nursery rhyme; Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are! Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are! Did you get to see the star of Bethlehem just before Christmas? Could it be the same star that led the wiseman to see Jesus, the King of Kings?
Just the other day I was thinking about that star and I came across Philippians 2:12-18. Paul is giving instruction on how to live our lives as disciples of Christ. Here are some of the key points he says that we should be doing; be obedient, seek the Lord, watch what you think and say, keep to scripture, live a life of sacrifice to the Lord. These are some pretty big things. Right in the middle of this passage though is what stood out to me. We do those things not just to live a better life, but to bring Glory to God. So that we can shine like stars, not for people to boast about us but to gaze upon the stars and see how great the Lord truly is. Paul is calling us all to be a star of Bethlehem drawing all people to the feet of Jesus.
Today’s Challenge: What is not of God that needs to change in me? How is my life drawing those around me to come to Jesus?
