21 Days - Day 4

"Arise and Shine"

Pastor Stephen Harrison

Read: Isaiah 60:1-3

I remember singing a song as a kid that went like this:  "Arise and shine and give God the glory, glory, (repeat twice)... children of the Lord."  I didn't realize I was singing a bible verse!  Isaiah 60:1-3 says, "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn."  We live in a dark day.  The darkness of evil and sin literally covers the whole earth, but we can shine the light of the World Jesus and invade the darkness.  John 1:4-5 says, "In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."  Nothing can overcome Jesus!  When we let our light shine (Matthew 5:16), we let the world around us see Jesus in us.  Maybe this is partially what it means to be "on fire for Jesus"?

Today's Challenge:  How can you arise and shine and give God glory today?  What evil can you overcome with the light of Jesus?
