"Struggles and Blessings"
Pastor Andrew Schod
Read: Mark 5:1-20
It is that time of year when so many start making resolutions and asking how things can change and be different. On New Years Eve this was what was on my mind. My 11 month old was sound asleep and my 4 year old was next to me watching her iPad and all I could think about is how a new year doesn’t change anything in the middle of our biggest struggle. A new year would not bring back my wife. A new year wouldn’t bring back the kids mommy. Now I have a choice to either make it about me or make it about Him.
In Mark 5, Jesus sets a demon possessed man free. The man has been labeled the crazy guy who lived in the tombs. Once Jesus set him free the man wanted to go with Jesus and Jesus said no. Instead Jesus sent him back to the place that only knows him as the crazy guy, no new start for him. Instead Jesus wants the man to go back so that he can show off the struggle that has now become the blessing so that God will be glorified and the people will begin to believe that Jesus is who He says He is.
Our struggles and our blessings are meant to show the Glory of God in our lives and to reach the lost with the Gospel.
Today’s Challenge: What struggle in my life do I need to turn over to God. How can my struggle be used to reach someone who doesn't know Christ? Is my complaining bringing me attention or bringing God glory.
